Let's be (better) friends is a project dedicated to empathy training and learning how to support each other through different situations. I noticed that there is a lot of self help floating around the internet, but few spaces devoted to learning how to support others– and that's how let's be (better) friends was born! I designed and created an installation, cards, and an instagram for this campaign. The cards contain information about how to support friends going through certain situations that are prevalent on college campuses and beyond (depression, anxiety, coming out, sexual assault, etc.). The installation, installed in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University, includes vinyl lettering and shelves with cards to encourage students to reflect and take cards applicable to situations that their friends were going through. The instagram creates a longer-term and easily accessible component so the conversation can continue. The clean and colorful design is eye-catching and easy-to-digest, giving an up-beat and approachable tone to serious topics. The gradients capture feelings often difficult to express and portray. Let's be better friends strives to do its part to create a friendlier, more supportive world!
